Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to start a discussion about the plans for the renderman pipeline.
I'm assuming you are using Blender, and I was wondering how you were getting that data into your favourite renderman renderer.

What did you use to render the PH2PC teaser? Are you using RibMosaic?
Is there a simple tutorial for getting up and even basically rendering with Aqsis, in Blender (for example)? Or at least successfully generating Ribs from Blender.

I'm slowly picking through this, I expect most answers are in here:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/ribmosaic/index.php?title=Help:Contents
Though I have my suspicions that it's not current with Blender 2.49

Cheers.

PH2PC teaser was not done with Renderman, it was rendered internally by Blender.

Also I am not sure if you have read through here yet :

Mosaic 0.4.5 (just commited to CVS) is designed to work with Blender 2.49

Hi Ted,

Yep, I have been picking my way through the documentation there. There is a lot of stuff Smiley

You mention version 0.4.5, but in the download section:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ribmosaic/files/

... I only see 0.2. An dthat was released over a year ago. I'll have to check which one I have working at home, it may be this version if I've been here before.
Do you know where I'd find the 0.4.5 version? And what's a 'CVS'?

Thanks!

Ahhh now I understand, you are using the OLD version that is not even compatible with the newer versions. A LOT has been changed since then, from the ground up and you will find, once you download the latest code, is that it is also much easier as well as more flexible. Since Project Widow has started Eric has been upgrading a lot, going from 0.3.4 to now 0.4.5.

Anyways. CVS is Concurrent Versioning System

The latest CVS of Mosaic is here - http://ribmosaic.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/ribmosaic/mosaic/

All you need to do is to click on mosaic.py, then it will show Revision 1.58 - click on (download) next to it, this is all you need as the python script has all the required Mosaic shaders built in to the script. You can download the rest of the files in the CVS directory but not required for mosaic to run.

I think you will enjoy the latest, it is a far cry from the older version you are using.

I will try to convince Eric to release the code in zip package format soon, after all once Blender 2.50 comes out Mosaic will break and he will need to rebuild it from the ground up.
